Ghosts

I'm still searching for the elusive mermaiden of Ontario. We might have passed in the street once and exchanged smiles, but I'm not sure.

Nine Inch Nails - Ghosts I-IV. Hell yes. Dark, dreamy, and heavy. Just my ticket.

A beautiful rainy day off. Things to do: craft music, go outside, meet sustenance requirements, figure out how to spell sustenance without spellcheck, listen to NIN, hug cat and dog, decide whether to purchase sweet mountain bike from roommate.

I was droning around on the internet last night and found my way to a list of excellent movies available on netflix Canada, of which 'Brick' caught my eye. Of course, when I actually went on to netflix, it wasn't available. So instead, I watched a pretty trashy Resident Evil movie.

Time to take a walk? On the wild side? Thanks Lou. I'm stuck in a cycle.

Post Title

I spent today running errands, retrieving my old bass from a shop I had left it in on consignment - only to receive a parking ticket. Sneaky ass sign on the side street said no parking 12am-6pm, but I read it differently in my hurry. The parking police are a fucking cartel. I noticed my neighbour had received a huge ticket for parking "within 3m of a fire hydrant" before I left my parent's place. What a croc of shit. There was at least 5 feet between the back of his car and the hydrant... How large is the fire hose that needs to connect to it in case of emergency?

My roommate's parents took us out to the Picasso exhibit at the AGO earlier, which was pretty sweet. Call me a cunt, but a lot of the stuff was pretty whatever to me. One of my favourites was a rough sketch of a jolly fat man next to a topless woman with a severed head, strictly because of the smile on the sitting man's face. Another cool one had a couple making out, but again the expression on his face was silly as hell and pretty amusing. A couple of bronze sculptures of goats were pretty dark and intimidating, with nails protruding across the skull. I'm not a big art gallery kind of guy, the crowds of people detract from the art. oooohhh ahhhh I feel like a cattle marching  along. Fancy.

We went to an Alsatian restaurant on Baldwin afterwards. Everyone else got dainty-ass portions, but I ordered the sauerkraut and got about 5 sausages in a huge bowl. I'm a slow eater to begin with, but felt bad that everyone had to watch me continue to stuff my face long after they had finished. I felt much worse for the people that had to smell my indigestion afterwards. Not everyone loves their own brand.

Unmet Expectations

Troubles abound with the Vensets. I'm pissed off that I sunk a year into a musical project, and now that we finally got the ball rolling by playing a show (to decent applause) it all seems to have crumbled. It has been fodder for my solo acoustic jams at least, lending anger towards unmet expectations. No success comes without hard work, and nothing good is all fun and games. It is good to be a dreamer, but reality has to be remembered, and those conflicting attitudes are at the heart of the clash.

I've been thinking that it is time to get out of town again. A good friend of mine is game to sublet my room for a month or so, in a month or two, which has me feeling good about the prospects. This adventure may turn out to be a solo affair, which might be good for me. Seems like life is a solo affair to me anyways. I need to make sure my finances are in order, but with some time I should be able to make it work. The destination isn't certain, but finances will dictate where is possible. I have always dreamt of touring Europe, but I doubt that will be possible, given my budget. Maybe all I need is a week in Montreal? A couple of weeks in the Rocky Mountains? Maybe something more drastic?

I'll do my best to keep you updated, internet world. (Despite my absence here, I have been writing steadily with a pen).
