The Dinosaur Bones show down at the Horseshoe the other night was pretty underwhelming. I thought I'd let it simmer in my brain for a few days before informing you. The last two tunes were good, but otherwise it was a pretty un-energetic show. It's mellow music, so I guess I shouldn't have been surprised, but given the quality of the N.Y.E track that I'd heard, I was expecting something more groove-inducing.
About a month or so ago, I came up with a sane idea to cover over all of the brand names and logos on my stuff with black electrical tape, because I own the stuff, it doesn't own me. I paid good money for that stuff, and never wanted the built-in advertising. I paid for function, and every single product slipped in some lame priming on me. The equipment all looks much sleeker without the branded clutter attached, and I feel mentally freer without being bombarded by advertisements within my own sanctuary. I urge you to try it, unless (or especially if) you're terribly vain and really need to remind all who visit that your goods were produced by a third party manufacturing firm under temporary contract by _________ corporation. If it's a sexy piece, that should be self-evident.
